Please begin with a "Root Cause" report of the program, our annual report for 2013-2014, and our Fall 2014 report - I oversee the data collection and composition of all program reports including areas of strength, current challenges, and program goals for the year. The fourth document outlines the impact of our summer program on student GPAs from the end of school year 2013 to the fall of 2014.
In order to bring cohesion among staff, scholars, university administration, partners, and families, I created the following handbooks - the first a Student/Family Handbook; the second a Summer Instructor Handbook.
Here is a report by Boston After School Beyond generated by a site visit and student survey. Unfortunately, they were unable to visit during our "arrival logistics and greetings" but rated our program as excelling in many areas. Since receiving the evaluation, I have attended a number of productive data analysis and strategic summer planning sessions with colleagues from similar youth programs working with Boston After School and Beyond. I am guiding a focus on our challenge areas throughout our winter and spring planning sessions.
My design of the academic program is captured in the following documents: our course offering and alignment to Common Core State Standards, a template for course design, our students' performance assessments, and a classroom observation form. I am currently aligning each aspect of academics to our Achieving-Connecting-Thriving framework.
Two more critical components of our program are the academic year tutoring which I have expanded from 2 to 4-days per week and the quarterly advising program which I founded, coordinate, and participate in.
Here are the nuts and bolts of administering the summer program including parent and intern orientation PowerPoints, our MLK Scholars internship newsletter, schedules, and calendars.
The following document outlines the programming relationship I began in 2013 with the Institute of Contemporary Art and is followed by a student survey of their experience.
Here is an outline of the Scholar Portfolio I developed to organize and accelerate student progress.
